Academic content
Purpose
The students should develop a clear understanding of the physics and chemistry content in Faroese primary and upper secondary school. In addition, the students should acquire research-based knowledge on how teaching can be planned and completed in relation to this content in order to support pupils’ development taking into account pupils’ cognitive and social preconditions.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the students should be able: Describe which teaching material is suitable for teaching physics/chemistry. Assess which teaching methods and evaluation methods are suitable to apply in physics/chemistry Carry out and/or solve tasks that are part of the syllabus in physics/chemistry Prepare and carry out laboratory exercises which are suitable for teaching physics/chemistry Show with examples how deductive approaches can be used in physics/chemistry teaching Reflect on the challenges a teacher may encounter when trying to organize a motivating teaching in the laboratory
